Therapies

I always start with a consultation to make sure that we choose the best massage treatment so that you can feel your best.

Aromatherapy Massage

Sink into a relaxing aromatherapy massage and let the soothing scent of your chosen essential oils lull you into a peaceful state of mind. Each essential oil has its own unique properties that can help reduce stress and anxiety and coupled with a range of massage techniques, can dissolve aches, pains and knots.

During our first consultation, I’ll choose the most beneficial essence to support your medical or emotional condition, so that you can get the most out of your aromatherapy experience.

The use of essential oils for therapeutic, ritualistic and spiritual purposes dates back to ancient civilisations including the Chinese, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks and Indians. Essential oils have been used as medicines since the 11th century when Avicenna isolated essential oils using steam distillation.

During the early part of the 20th century a French chemist by the name of René-Maurice Gattefossé is credited with coining the term aromatherapy. Other highly respected 20th century aromatherapists include Marguerite Maury, Robert Tisserand and Jean Valnet.

Reflexology

Optimise your physical and mental well-being and restore your body’s natural balance with this age-old treatment. Known to reduce tension and improve circulation, each session involves applying pressure to different points on your feet or hands. These points correspond with another part of your body, and when activated can bring healing and pain relief. When your session is complete you’ll leave feeling blissfully relaxed for the rest of the day, and beyond.

For 3,000 years Chinese practitioners have used reflexology to re-balance Qi (the life force that flows through energy channels) to treat a number of health conditions. It can work alongside conventional medical medicine to promote healing, well-being and vitality.

The principles of this ancient therapy are that certain areas on the soles of your feet or hands – known as reflex zones – containing millions of nerve endings, correspond to other parts of the body. The theory is that all systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in miniature on the feet, hands, ears and face. By applying pressure on specific points corresponding organs, nerve endings and energy pathways are stimulated encouraging the body to heal itself thus improving circulation, reducing stress and restoring the body’s natural balance.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a great way to tackle stress and reduce the limiting effects of chronic pain, so you can get back to doing those everyday activities that might have become more difficult. I use a combination of massage techniques, including Swedish and deep tissue.  I’ll discuss the different combinations I can use during your consultation to tailor them to your specific needs.

Whether you’re suffering from back pain, neck pain or you’re just looking for a luxurious way to relax, I have a massage treatment for you.

Tracing back thousands of years, ancient cultures believed in its medical benefits, with early records of its practice in Egypt, India and China. We manipulate the soft tissue of the body, muscles, tendons and ligaments to promote good health and blood flow throughout the body.

During our first consultation we will discuss the problems that you are experiencing and determine the best possible course of treatment.

Aromatherapy Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Aromatherapy Lymphatic Drainage Massage is an extremely gentle and wonderfully relaxing treatment due to the slow rhythmic motions applied.  These techniques stimulate the movement of lymph through the lymph vessels.  The lymphatic system removes waste and toxins from the bodily tissues.

The heart continuously pumps blood through the blood vessels, however, the lymphatic system relies on the movement of smooth muscle to transport fluid through the lymph vessels.

Although this type of massage is very gentle, its effects can be very powerful particularly when combined with pure essential oils (several of which are diuretics) to aid the elimination process.

This type of massage can assist detoxification but the benefits will be greatly increased by bathing with a selection of the same essential oils, gentle exercise, a healthy diet and skin brushing.  This is done using a dry brush following the same direction as the massage strokes (from the extremities towards the collarbone).

If you think you are experiencing an interruption of normal flow of lymph fluid, you may have a build up in the body, often in the arms or legs, where it can cause swelling. Lymphatic Massage combined with detoxifying essential oils can:

  • Boost the immune system to help prevent illness.
  • Benefit those who suffer with recurrent infections.
  • Decongest the lymph after surgery reducing swelling.
  • Improve cellulite.
  • Support the body to recover from illness.
  • Reduce stress as deeply relaxing.
  • Increase vitality and stamina.
  • Aid tissue fluid re-absorption.
  • Help restore joint movement such as arthritis and frozen shoulder.
  • Reduce migraine episodes.
  • Relieve sinus congestion.
